Sweet Fall Treats for the Family
Fall is in full swing, and the team at Heritage CDJR Harrisburg, Owings Mills & Parkville has the perfect treats to help you get into the season. Nothing says "Autumn is here!" like a warm, sweet treat for the whole family. Here are three recipes that everyone can enjoy this fall!
Cinnamon Apple Chips
This recipe is a good low-calorie snack to take on the go and has almost no prep time. What more could you want?
While your oven preheats to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, thinly slice 5 apples and put them on a greased baking sheet without letting them overlap. Mix up 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and 3 teaspoons of brown sugar in a bowl and then sprinkle the mixture on the tops of the slices. Bake these on the top oven rack for 2 hours, or until they're crunchy and dry. Let them cool and enjoy!
Pumpkin Spice Krispie Treats
This fun fall twist on a classic treat will have you in the fall spirit. With this quick ten minute recipe, you'll have the classic fall flavor before you know it.
First, melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pan on medium-low heat. Once melted, add 4 cups of marshmallows (the marshmallows determine how gooey the treat is, so feel free to experiment here). Next, mix up 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice with 1/4 cup of pumpkin pie puree. Add this mixture to the melted marshmallow and stir it all together. Then, add in 6 cups of rice crispy cereal and stir together. Finally, add the mixture to a greased baking pan and press them with a cookie sheet to flatten out. Let cool and enjoy!
Chocolate and Peanut Butter Acorns
Is fall all about the outdoors for you? Then this quick and easy nature-themed treat should hit the spot!
First, separate a bag of mini chocolate chips in half. Set one half aside for later, and melt the other half in the microwave or on the stove until they're close to a liquid. Then, using however many you choose, dip the flat bottom of a Hershey Kiss in the melted chocolate. Next, take an individual Nutter Butter and stick it to the bottom of the Hershey Kiss that was just dipped in chocolate, the cooling chocolate will hold them together. Now, using the mini chocolate chips set aside earlier, dip them in the melted chocolate just like the Hershey Kisses and stick them to the other side of the Nutter Butter. Cool, and enjoy your acorns!
