See the Most Iconic FCA Models
FCA has spent a lot of time pushing the boundaries of the automotive industry, and the results are pretty clear. Over the years, the automaker has created vehicles that not only performed well, but that also changed the industry at large. These iconic models became ingrained in the history of the car community when they were first introduced and continue to spark interest years later. The team here at Heritage CDJR Harrisburg, Owings Mills & Parkville has put together some of our favorite FCA vehicles throughout the years to celebrate how far the brand has come.
Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger was the brand’s first purpose-built muscle car, quickly making it an icon for the automaker. In 1966, when equipped with the optional HEMI® V8 engine, the Charger produced 425 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque. This aggressive powerhouse has evolved throughout the years, but it has always remained true to those muscle car roots. Today, this model is available with up to 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which makes it the most powerful five-seat production car ever, based on horsepower.
Jeep® Gladiator
Introduced for the 1963 model year, the Jeep Gladiator or “J-Series” truck featured the brand’s iconic styling cues with a square front end and round headlights. Based on the Wagoneer, the Gladiator featured an overhead cam six-cylinder engine, Dana front and rear axles, and a Dana 20 transfer case. In 1971, the “Gladiator” name was dropped, and the Jeep truck was just referred to as the J-Series until 1987. With the growing demand for capable pickup trucks, Jeep has decided to resurrect the nameplate for 2020. This brand-new model builds on the style and success of the Jeep Wrangler but adds the convenience and versatility of a truck. Chrysler 300
In 1955, the first Chrysler 300 was sold. It quickly became an icon, both on and off the race track, and even set a 143-mph record at Daytona Beach. As the model evolved, the automaker designed it to handle better at high speeds. In 1957, this powerful vehicle was equipped with a 375 horsepower HEMI with two four-barrel carburetors, a high-output camshaft, and upgraded suspension. That year it was named the fastest, most powerful production car built in the United States. Today, the Chrysler 300 is still powered by a monstrous V8, still features styling that channels modern elegance, and still appeals to drivers that want speed, as well as luxury.
RAM® 3500
The RAM 3500 doesn’t date back quite as far as the first two models on the list, as it was first introduced in 1994. However, this heavy-duty pickup truck has quickly made a name for itself, for both commercial and personal use. The new diesel-powered 6.7-liter Cummins® six-cylinder turbo engine makes an impressive 1,000 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to tow up to 35,100 pounds without flinching. Available Rear Auto-Level Air Suspension provides unparalleled performance and ride quality, whether there’s a trailer behind this pickup truck or not.
