The six-speed manual transmission comes standard, but Jeep also offers an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. The Jeep reaches 0 to 60 in 7.2 seconds, which puts it in line with other vehicles in its class. Drivers may also upgrade to the diesel 3.0-liter V-6, which also reaches 260 horsepower but delivers an impressive 442 lb. ft. of torque.
The maximum towing capacity for a well-equipped Jeep Gladiator is 7,650 pounds. Drivers who don’t need that exceptional towing option can still tow up to a 4,000-pound trailer on the base model. The bed of the Jeep Gladiator can carry anywhere from 1,105 to 1,700 pounds. For fuel efficiency, the standard manual transmission offers 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The automatic transmission offers the same city mileage but drops a notch to 22 mpg on the highway. The best fuel efficiency comes from the diesel option with 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
